Some of the most important places in America don't belong to anyone in particular. They belong to all of us — the canyons, forests, rivers, and rangelands held in common as public lands.

On Common Ground is a limited narrative series about those places: how we came to share them, the fights over who controls them, and what stands to be lost. Across the season, we follow the story from the people who know these lands best — tribal leaders, ranchers, historians, scientists, and advocates — to understand not just what's at stake, but what it takes to protect it.

This isn't a story about despair. It's about the coalitions that have won before, and the ones forming now. Because hope doesn't come from wishing. It comes from action.
